The Peace Leeches The Peace Leeches consist of 2 very young musicians, singer, keyboardist, and wild front woman, Ray Stern, and guitar, bass and effects wizard, Corey Schatz. There is an energy about The Peace Leeches that separates them from other bands. It could be the body paint, or the costumes or Ray's wild dancing, but every time they hit the stage every set of eyes in the room seems to be hypnotized and glued to their presence. Their debut album, "ROY G BIV" released in 2009 is a electronic/dance masterpiece but The Peace Leeches are a band that you must experience live. They've shared the stage with big professional acts such as Finger 11, The Trews, Woodhands, Sloan, Beast, Thornley, The Unsettlers and many more. They frequent The Phog Lounge in Windsor which was just dubbed "Best Live Music Venue in Canada 2009" by CBC Radio 3. They were asked by the owner to share the stage with the well known Canadian bands "The Arkells" and "Holy Fuck" to celebrate the accomplishment. They've been featured in many indie spotlights including 2 television debuts on SWO's "Shattered" and London, Ontario's "London Calling". Just recently The Peace Leeches were chosen out of 100's of Canadian bands to be in the top 10 finalists for the Toronto Independent Music Awards, being nominated for "Best Live Electric Act 2010". This July 23rd The Peace Leeches will be playing at The Phoenix Concert Theater in Toronto where they will be announcing the winner of this award.

"That was a great set at Rancho Relaxo for Synthfest. Plain and simple, The Peace Leeches are entertaining. Think electronica-synth-pop overdrive with a colorful 80's spirit, sassy vocals, supercharged guitars, making for a fearless but fun performance. Get ready for a high-energy dance-fueled good time." - Lonely Vagabond (Exclaim Magazine)

Square Root of Margaret
Square Root of Margaret is a 5 piece out of Chatham, Ontario, Canada with over 15 years, and 7 albums to their credit. Known for their psychadelic pop-indie jams, and gut pounding, jagermeister stained live shows.....the boys never fail to impress even the toughest critic. Early albums featured fuzzed out wierdness and surf-rock gems, but the band has evolved through the 2000's into synth-pop melody makers. 2010's "WYSIWYG" is an in your face assault of rock-acid anthems. Discovering Square Root of Margaret in 2010 will be a rare opportunity to peel back the layers of a band that has created its own genre but pushed it to its limits.

"If you are a fan of one of England's greatest bands - The Kinks, or one of America's greatest bands - The Apples in Stereo, or one of Wales' greatest bands, The Super Furry Animals....you will no doubt enjoy this next band, from Chatham, Ontario, the Maple City..... here is the Square Root of Margaret!" - Grant Lawrence, CBC Radio 3 Podcast #61

"Square Root of Margaret have crafted a richly-layered and prodigiously-textured work steeped in darkness and light, melancholy and joy, youthful innocence and artistic maturity which is light years ahead of many." - Upfront Magazine Aug 2007

Waxmen Unconventional yet familiar; this is WAXMEN. Drawing from the past and present both personally and historically, their music spins tales of horror and humour, tragedy and triumph.

The Alt/Rock trio WAXMEN is comprised of James Stefanuk, Tyson Froese and Shawn Royal; three seasoned musicians with familiar ties to groove laden rock. Meeting on the Indie music circuit of Toronto through previous projects, the three shared a passion for meaty hooks and edgy musical statements. There is no room for filler in WAXMEN music. The project has been undertaken with an uncompromising eye for detail, and an objective “no strings attached” attitude. Half a year was spent forging a foundation of songs, released in spring 2008 to the critical acclaim of fans and industry. Almost immediately a debut show found them playing at 102.1 the EDGE, to a huge crowd filling the studio and stretching right across historic downtown Yonge Street. The impactful set was topped-off by emptying a briefcase full of CD’s and buttons into the hands of rabid fans.

Leveraging the success of their first gigs as fuel for the fire, WAXMEN continue to expand their horizons to clubs and radio stations across the country and beyond. Maintaining a prolific tour schedule, they reach out to the people who resoundingly reach back. Back in the studio they hammer and chisel their way through more material. The product is a landscape of rich with silky vocal harmonies and hummable melodies juxtaposed against crunchy guitar riffs and bludgeoning drums. Released in early 2010, the final project was entitled "Eleven". The guys continue to write, producing songs that are unique sounding, but have the WAXMEN stamp on them.

Travelling through the void left by the loss of mankind’s interpersonal affinity, WAXMEN is a beacon of truth in an emotionally sterilized society. The writing is poignant and poetic. Their muse is their conscience. With a wry smile the band has taken on the Indie music world by storm, balancing pain and pleasure in sonic form to communicate something intangible, yet felt by us all; the human experience.

The Fantasy Defender

The Fantasy Defender is a project started by Dawn Mandarino (The Flairs/Tuuli) after wanting to create a new sound that mixed melodic 80's pop sensibilities with a goth-glam sound to darken the mix….think Cyndi Lauper meets Garbage! Rounding out the line-up is sassy drummer Grant Scott and bassist extraordinare Joe Gervasi.

In her previous punk/rock bands, Mandarino shared the stage with such legends as Cheap Trick, David Lee Roth and The Buzzcocks and actively toured across Canada, the U.S., France, and Indonesia playing in front of a staggering 90,000 people. She gave highly praised performances at Vancouver's New Music West festival, Toronto's NXNE and Canadian Music Week, New York City's esteemed punk rock venues CBGB‘s and The Continental, Los Angeles' International Pop Overthrow Festival and the ROCKRGRL Music Conference in Seattle.

The Fantasy Defender takes Mandarino in a new direction which utilizes her melodic pop instincts while keeping the rock ‘n’ roll edge. The debut album "Lick the Poison" (scheduled for release in April 2010) is clever, catchy, intoxicating, and undeniably fun.

Left Turn City Left Turn City is playing their own brand of rock that continues to turn heads and then proceeds to make those heads move in a vertical motion. It's infectious. The music's fierce groove and heavy hitting choruses delve back to the early 90's rock and grunge acts, but the overall sound is very new school and fresh. The energy doesn't end with your stereo however. When you see Left Turn City perform live, you cannot ignore the passion that these four put into playing their music. It's an all out assault that literally has left crowds chanting for more.

Left Turn City is prepared to make an impact and breathe new life into the current state of rock and roll. Be ready!

Drive Faster Contagious as The Killers, cool as Metric, Drive Faster keeps dance-rock slick and savvy. Drive Faster began as Supernal, a hard-working, hard-rocking four-piece from Calgary, Alberta. Opening for such acclaimed acts as Angels and Airwaves and Sum41, Supernal shook stages from Vancouver to New York City, receiving airplay on over 300 commercial and college radio stations continent-wide. Reviewers testified, “the energy and vibe they provide to their audience is infectious” (Uncharted Sounds, 2008).

After relocating to Toronto, ON, the band shifted gears to become Drive Faster, while frontwoman Angela Elizabeth traded in her electric guitar for a micro-Korg synthesizer. “Their music is just like their personality: friendly and upbeat. They are realistic and ambitious. Top that with talented” (Andréanne Sasseville – Sirius Satellite Radio, BOBBi MAGAZINE). Look for the debut EP this summer as Drive Faster heads to the fast lane.

Air Marshal Landing We are a group of three friends who see the world around us and long for so much more. Our longing takes the form of midnight optimism and afternoon bitterness, where daydreams and reality meet up for biscuits and tea. You can hear it in our lyrics and in our music. Don’t take our word for it though – have a listen and hear for yourself.
